What minimum system requirements must my computer meet?

  • When working on regulated course material, we recommend using a Windows- or Mac-based desktop or laptop computer.
  • We recommend the use of Windows 8-10 or macOS 10.9 or later operating systems.
  • We recommend the use of current Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browsers. We also support Internet Explorer 11 and Edge.
  • For business customers, please verify the browser choice and use with your manager or IT department.
  • We recommend online learners have a high speed internet connection (at least a 2MB).
  • Many courses will require a sound card sound and audio output device (speakers, headphones, etc.).
  • Many courses will require Adobe Acrobat Reader to access course materials.
  • Your browser must have javascript enabled and must accept cookies. All popup blockers must be disabled.

Are mobile devices supported?

Yes, all Kaplan Accounting Continuing Education courses are compatible with mobile devices. Kaplan makes every attempt to make our websites and products mobile-friendly. However, not all features are compatible with all tablets and phones.

How do I handle pop-ups?

Pop-up windows need to be enabled in order to launch courses and exams. However, pop-up blocker functionality comes standard on most modern browsers and is often enabled by default. You may need to contact your IT Department to disable your browser's pop-up blocker functionality.

How do I fix display problems?

Please ensure that you are using the most current version of your chosen web browser. Check with your IT Department to see if they have a version optimized for your web browsing experience.

How do I test my audio system?


  1. Click the Start button in the bottom left corner of your screen.
  2. Select Control Panel in the right column, and then double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.
  3. Ensure that the Mute option is not checked and that the Device Volume slider is at least midway high.
  4. Click the Speaker Volume button towards the bottom to ensure both speakers volume settings are at least midway. (This feature may not be available on all machines).
  5. Check the audio by selecting the Sounds tab at the top and then choose Asterisk in the Program Events window at the bottom. The right-arrow button to the left of the Browse button will play a sound for the selected feature.
  6. Close the dialog box and return to your courses once you know your audio is working.


First, disconnect any external audio devices from your computer. Also disconnect any cables from the USB, Thunderbolt, FireWire, or 3.5mm audio ports.

  1. From the Apple menu in the upper left corner of your screen, choose System Preferences.
  2. Select Sound.
  3. Click the Output tab, then select Internal Speakers. (If you don't see Internal Speakers as an option in the Output window, contact your IT Department.)
  4. If the Output volume slider is set low, move the slider to the right and test again.
  5. If the Mute checkbox is selected, deselect it and test again.
  6. Once you know your audio is working, close System Preferences and return to your courses.

How do I clear my web browser?

It's good practice to periodically delete your browser's cache, as well as clear Cookies and History. For instructions on how to do this on your specific browser, please click on the link below.

Where do I go if I am unable to alter my settings?

If you are unable to change your computer to adhere to Kaplan's recommendations, please contact your manager, administrator or your IT department. There could be security, firewall, or other issues that need to be addressed internally.
