CPAR Accounting & Financial Reporting

CPAR - 2020/December, Seg. 2 - The Evolution of the Profession - The CPA Journal's 90th Anniversary

Our team had the privilege to record a Town Hall meeting for the New York State Society of CPAs as a tribute to The CPA Journal's 90th anniversary of publication. The panel consisted of CPAs in the public accounting arena as well as in private practice, who came together to discuss the evolution of the profession. Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is one of the hot topics touching every organization and more and more businesses are starting to focus on it. With the recent social unrest in the country, many firms have issued public statements on DEI, but these statements may not be enough. The panelists discuss ways to alleviate the challenges that minorities face in the workplace and more.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify ways to measure diversity, equity and inclusion success within a company;
  • Recognize reasons why minorities shy away from accounting;
  • Understand the breakdown of SWOT analysis; and
  • Determine the onboarding challenges in remote environments.
