After considering over 300 formal comment letters and additional taxpayer feedback, the Treasury Department and IRS have issued final regulations on Opportunity Zones to provide clarity and certainty for investors and communities. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, back in 2017, created a new type of investment opportunity designed to help distressed economic communities. Since then, numerous areas have been designated as opportunity zones.
